AXE is the most interesting comeback story in men’s fragrance right now. For 40 years it sold attraction. Now it sells confidence.

Born in France, 1983. Launched by Unilever as AXE, inspired by Impulse. Renamed LYNX in UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand. Today in 60+ markets, including India since 1999.

a) “History of Overdoing It” (US, 2024-25)
Insight: Everyone knows a guy who emptied half a can. Head of AXE US said: “AXE has always been part of the cultural conversation around guys doing too much, and for years, that included how our body spray was used”. The campaign launched new bottles designed for controlled output to kill the “Axe cloud” and literally said we are making our over-spraying past history. Self-aware, funny, mature.
b) “Smell Your Best When You Look Your Worst” – FIFA World Cup 2026
AXE is an official partner for World Cup 2026. The campaign idea: During the tournament, guys are all in on fandom – unshaven, same jersey for 3 days, screaming at 2am. AXE says: fine, look worst, but smell best. It spans film, OOH, social, experiential. Perfect for India too, where late-night matches are a lifestyle.
c) “The Power of a Fragrance”
Their global equity film that won Film Gold at Cannes Lions in 2024. Less about attracting women, more about how a scent changes your own power.

Layering, not masking:
