Samsung officially introduced the Galaxy Watch9 series on July 22, 2026 at Galaxy Unpacked in London, alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 8, Z Flip 8 and the Watch Ultra 2. Pre-orders began the same day, with global and India general availability starting August 7, 2026. The 40mm LTE in Graphite has become the most popular size for everyday use.
It is the first smartwatch to launch with the new Snapdragon Wear Elite 3nm platform. Samsung says it supercharges daily performance while optimizing battery life. Paired with that is an enhanced BioActive Sensor for more precise health tracking and Dual GPS for more consistent location tracking, even in dense city areas.
On design, the Watch9 stays true to the iconic circular look but now in an ultra-sleek 8.6mm slim-fit body built with Armor Aluminum and Sapphire Glass. The Super AMOLED display pushes up to 3000 nits, so it is easily readable in direct sunlight. The 40mm case is lightweight and ergonomic, which is why Samsung is pushing it as an all-day wear.
For software, it ships with Wear OS 7.0 with 32GB storage and One UI 8 Watch. Samsung is leaning heavily on On-Wrist Intelligence – you can Raise to Talk to Gemini hands-free to check messages, manage schedules and control music without taking your phone out. Health features include Vitals, Heart Health Score, Fitness Index, and Personalized HR & FTP for adaptive workouts.
